What Meagan Becker is FOR

FOR Economic Growth:
Bountiful loses out on tax dollar revenue every time we grocery shop, eat out, or spend money in in neighboring communities. This is called tax leakage, and it's bad for our community.
Since the city boundaries are somewhat obscure, many people may not even realize when they are, or aren't, patronizing Bountiful establishments.
Take a look at the city map. Bountiful's freeway exits, where so much retail exists, belong to others cities (North Salt Lake, Woods Cross, West Bountiful, and Centerville).
We need to attract new retail, restaurants, and destination venues to our city, generating more sales tax for our city's general fund.
We also need to wisely use areas of redevelopment to attract office and industrial tenants, services and venues that translate into prime property tax revenue for the city.

FOR Families:
Bountiful is a great place to live, but we lack a family-friendly entertainment. Here's a map of family and child-friendly activities Davis County put together for our school children. Notice anything disconcerting - I do. Bountiful's only stop on the map is the county rec-center. Considering roughly a third of our city's population is under age 18, we should have more local entertainment for kids and families. As a city, we could encourage local entrepreneurs to fill this need, through private-public partnerships, so more families stay in, and come to, Bountiful for fun.

FOR Bountiful:
Bountiful's best interest is my only interest. Putting the city's best interest first, listening to concerns, and working hard to secure the best Bountiful possible for our families, and future generations, is my goal.

Other ideas:
1. Use Bountiful Golf Course all year long.
Our city golf course is a great asset that covers it's own costs. That's a plus for our city. And the Bountiful golf course is only in full-swing operation a few months each year. Let's use it in the winter as a Nordic ski track for cross country skiers, and charge a nominal fee. This way the area gets used all year long, residents (and others) can enjoy the space and outdoors in all season, and the Bountiful golf course can generate money for the city's general fund.

2. Make Mueller Park Canyon friendly again.
Thank you, Iris Young, for sharing your less-pleasant experience at Mueller Park Canyon with all of us.
Mueller Park Canyon is a great resource and attraction that Bountiful shares with the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest ... and it should be one we can easily enjoy.
The current prices of $5 a person or $8 a car make enjoying this beautiful area on a regular basis cost prohibitive for most families. Let's change that!
We can work to waive the individual fee, and reduce the car entry fee to make it more in-line with other hiking areas, like Millcreek, which is what it Mueller Park Canyon was intended for.

3. Create a Bountiful-Inter-Faith Council.
Let's get our diverse faith-based communities to work together. Working together we can help more local charities, and make sure city concerns and issues are being shared across our various faiths.
